The Candlestand The lampstand which held the candle was another accoutrement of the Alchemist's laboratory. The pieces in this series which incorporate neon and argon have been a rather esoteric endeavor. These reflect more of my personal involvement in art than they do that of Eric Helín Design. I've included them because they are my work. The Candlestand is the final piece in this series. Here, the argon candle, which lit the alchemical operation is blowing out. The argon in this piece is very dim. The earlier pieces have intense neon in them. In the later ones the light is progressively less intense and painted colors begin to emerge in the later pieces. The intensity of the light in this case has solidified into the real world color which colors the inside of the "glow" rings which radiate outwards in concentric rainbowed hues from the candle. At the same time the flame which is blowing out has "solidified" leaving it's radiant impression behind on the air in the outline of a flame with rays. home • biography • about us • designs/products • neon work • art furniture / functional art • music • gallery • contact us • sitemap • faq Copyright © 2005-2007 Eric Helín Design.
